About Michael Armbrust
I grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, surrounded by rusted bridges and quiet alleyways that always felt like they were hiding something. That atmosphere sparked a lifelong fascination with the supernatural and the stories that live just beneath the surface of ordinary places.
I now live in North Carolina, where I write gothic urban fantasy that blends eerie suspense with deep emotion and queer-centered storytelling. My debut novel, Echoes of the Night: Shadows of Pittsburgh, explores hidden worlds beneath familiar streets, where monsters wear familiar faces and magic is never quite what it seems. The story continues in Echoes of the Night: Curse of the Iron City and Echoes of the Night: From Bones to Bridges, expanding the Nightwalker saga as secrets deepen, loyalties are tested, and the cost of survival becomes harder to ignore.
My writing is shaped by a love of mythology, horror, and found-family stories. I believe the best stories are the ones that leave you changed, a little haunted, a little hopeful, and maybe just a bit ruined in the best possible way.
When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me exploring strange corners of the internet, watching some iteration of Star Trek, obsessing over coffee rituals, or quietly plotting the next twist in the Nightwalker saga.
I believe every city has ghosts, every person carries a secret, and every story deserves a little magic.
