An Ugly Little Monster Series

An IFHS™ Publishing Project

When I started the I Fucking Hate Summer Facebook group back in May 2011, publishing books written by our members wasn't exactly on my list of things to do.

But here we are.

It actually started with Chandra Schmitt, one of our group members, who had written a book called Why I Fucking Hate Summer: 20 Perfectly Reasonable Reasons Summer Can Fuck Off.

Having already written and published several books of my own, I offered to help Chandra get hers published. We worked on editing, formatting, the cover, and everything else involved in getting a book ready for Amazon.

And somewhere along the way, I started thinking about all the other creative people in our group.

With more than 70,000 members, surely Chandra wasn't the only one with a story to tell.

So I decided to open the opportunity up to other members, and An Ugly Little Monster Series was born.

What Is An Ugly Little Monster Series?

It's a publishing project featuring books written by members of the I Fucking Hate Summer™ community.

Each book has its own author, its own story, and its own style. We're not limiting ourselves to one genre, either. Horror, comedy, fiction, memoirs, fantasy, poetry, and just about anything else are welcome.

There's really only one requirement.

Summer has to be part of the problem.

Maybe summer is the villain. Maybe the heat makes an already terrible situation even worse. Or maybe someone just has 20 perfectly reasonable reasons why the entire season can fuck off.

I work with selected authors on editing, formatting, cover development, and publishing. The authors retain their copyrights and have a say in how their books are presented.

I'm not promising anyone a bestseller or a publishing fortune. The idea is to have some fun, give talented members an opportunity to get their work published, and hopefully create something our community can be proud of.

Our First Book

Why I Fucking Hate Summer

20 Perfectly Reasonable Reasons Summer Can Fuck Off

By Chandra Schmitt

Chandra is officially our first Ugly Little Monster author!

Her book takes on 20 of the many reasons summer is such a miserable season, with plenty of humor and a healthy amount of profanity.

It's available now on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.

What's Next?

We're already receiving submissions from other IFHS members, and I've started talking with several potential authors about their ideas and manuscripts.

Some are funny. Some are dark. Some are based on real experiences. And some are just downright strange.

Which is pretty much what I'd expect from this group.

As new books are published, I'll be adding them here along with information about their authors.

In the meantime, you can learn more about the project, including how IFHS members can submit their own ideas, on our official series page.
