Michael Armbrust

Author of dark fiction, supernatural stories, and the Echoes of the Night collection

Welcome to the official press kit for Michael Armbrust, an author whose work blends supernatural fiction, horror, dark humor, queer characters, and the streets and neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.

Michael is best known for Echoes of the Night, a collection of interconnected novels and novellas set in a shadowed version of Pittsburgh where the familiar and supernatural exist side by side. His stories explore found family, loss, identity, loyalty, and the things that may be hiding just beyond what we can see.

His work includes Shadows of Pittsburgh, Curse of the Iron City, From Bones to Bridges, Derek, and the newest novella, Pawprints Through the Fog, a Halloween story in which a strange fog settles over Mount Washington and two escaped cats lead their owner into a Pittsburgh that isn't quite the one he knows.

Michael has also written standalone fiction, including A Yinzer Christmas in the Dark, and continues to expand his work beyond the original Echoes storylines.

Outside of writing, Michael is the founder of I FUCKING HATE SUMMER (IFHS), a Facebook community he started in 2011 that has grown to more than 70,000 members. What began as a place for people united by their dislike of heat and humidity has grown into a creative community featuring contests, merchandise, member creators, and publishing projects.
